Field notes and corrections

When a number here turns out to be wrong, you hear about it.

Three things arrive and nothing else. The new field note — bar rates, cover widths, service clearances, the arithmetic worked through on one real evening. And a correction whenever a rule in the published rulebook changes, or a number the tools rely on turns out to have been wrong. There is no weekly slot, because there is nothing weekly to put in it.

One email per field note, plus corrections when a published figure moves. Unsubscribe from any of them.

The instruments

Space Lab (opens in a new tab) Measure and test a real room for fit, clearances, flow, turnover and the questions that still need a site visit. Atmosphere OS (opens in a new tab) Carry one idea from mood to florals to budget without it quietly turning beige along the way. Occasion OS (opens in a new tab) The food for the same evening, over at Salty & Clever. Quantities, a prep clock, a shopping list. The rulebook (opens in a new tab) Every rule that produces a number, what it rests on, and where it stops being true.

Room for Drama Diagnose the room before you buy anything for it. Salty & Clever Food worth wanting, and a plan that lets you sit down. Vanity or Vice The claim, on trial. Hook the Horizon Water, weather, and what is actually feeding. Elsewhere, Apparently Travel, once the brochure stops talking.
