Not Yours to Run — Three Doors

$69.00

Three evenings whose schedule is not the host’s to hold. A child running the correction sequence, a rising tide that will not be negotiated with, and a peak time set by the sky months before the venue was booked. The Mini Books are the operating systems for handing the clock over cleanly — and for being the least important person in your own room without the evening falling apart.

Your purchase includes: all three named Mini Books and the downloadable Field Editions/files listed on this page.

Use: You may print and use the included Mini Books for yourself and in your own client work. You may give a client completed, meaningfully customized outputs, but not the blank books, reusable templates, source files, licence keys, or independent access.

Refunds: You may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of purchase. No reason is required. Read the complete Terms of Sale.

Description

Three evenings in which the host is not in charge of the schedule, and the whole design problem is how to hand that over on purpose rather than lose it by accident.

Kitchen Has Opinions gives the authority to a child and then builds the machinery that makes it survive contact with a real dinner — the correction sequence written course by course, the pass and host-route plans, the holding logic that decides which dishes can wait for a cue, and the arithmetic that buys the host a whole course sitting down. High Tide at Nine hands it to the water: the date is chosen so the third hour of the flood lands across the middle of dinner, the room contracts on the tide’s schedule rather than a run sheet’s, and the departure time is given in writing to somebody who is not enjoying themselves, because a host at that moment is the least objective person on the beach. Supper Under Observation hands it to the sky, which set the date before the venue existed — and then asks the hardest thing of all: at peak minus sixty, nothing changes, and when the moment comes the host says one sentence in a normal voice and then says nothing at all.

Bought separately these are three different Mini Books. Bought together they are the same argument made three times: decide in advance who owns the clock, give it away properly, and then design an evening good enough that you do not need to take it back.

Includes full access to all three Mini Books — Kitchen Has Opinions, High Tide at Nine and Supper Under Observation — at a saving against buying each on its own, and all three Field Editions: 87 pages of A5 working paper across the set, including the tide-clock card, the date card and the white-light audit as forms you fill in before anything is booked. The Occasion Study, Look Book and menu concept for each theme stay free and complete on the site regardless.
