Immersive Event Worlds
The Fitting Room Is Closed
Everyone has already changed three times. A late supper for after the gala: a fitting room open for the last change, a curtain pinned at half past ten, then cheeseburgers at one muslin table.

Everyone has already changed three times.
This page is the World’s first editorial chapter. The free Field Guide previews its identity and scope; the paid World Package supplies the complete environment, floral, culinary, styling and production system. Links to finished guides and packages appear as those files become available.
The night
Everyone arrives having already done the difficult thing. They stood in front of a mirror and rejected two outfits, or four. They were pinned, steamed and taped into something, then out of it, then back in. Some are coming from a gala and still have its gown in a bag over one arm. The rest dressed at home and brought the one that almost won, just in case.
This night gives all of that somewhere to hang. There is a rail for the bags and a ticket with a number on it. In one corner there is a real fitting room behind a black curtain, with one tall mirror, a stool and a steamer, where you can still make one last change: out of the gown and into the dress you actually wanted to eat in, out of the heels and into the flats. A coupe of very cold Champagne while you do, with a frozen raspberry in the bottom that slowly turns the glass pink. One tiny crab tart on a plate much too big for it.
Then, at half past ten, the host draws the curtain and pins it shut, and nobody opens it again. The card under your plate turns over. A smashed cheeseburger arrives in front of a person wearing silk.
It’s for a fashion fundraiser’s committee on the night the thing finally happens, a fortieth or fiftieth where the outfit has been in the works for months, and any creative crowd that has earned an afterparty with real food in it. The best part is watching a room full of people who have been assessing themselves all day stop doing it at exactly the same moment.
The work is done. Sit down.
What the World Folio holds
- The Premium World Package: how to build a fitting room that closes, the room and its palette as real materials, the light before and after the curtain, the one low river of flowers, the two menus and their order, the cutover itself, the second half of the night and how it ends, scale from a curtained alcove for two to changing bays for 120, three budgets, what goes wrong and the fix.
- The Host Pack: the clock from three weeks out to the morning after, who does what, the room map, the cue sheet, service timing, make-ahead, what fails first, the strike, the production menu, scale and budget at five sizes, the shopping list and vendor briefs, the printed pieces, the invite look card, the music.
- The recipes: seven made things, each with its equal, written for twenty.
- Free, as part of the same night: a Salt Notes recipe for each dish and drink, and a Vanity or Vice look book on how to show up. They are named below and linked when they are live.
The room
It looks like the evening after a fitting, if the fitting had excellent taste and nobody else had to clean up. The palette is Fitting-Room Black, Atelier White, Champagne, one Lipstick Red and one line of Metallic Thread Gold, on plain pale walls with no pictures. The table is draped in unbleached muslin, the cheap cotton a dress is rehearsed in before anyone cuts the good fabric, gathered at the corners with brass kilt pins. A low river of red ranunculus, anemones and garden roses runs down its middle, lower than your glass. Along one wall, a steel rail of identical black garment bags on matching walnut hangers, each with a numbered tag, like a chorus line of outfits that didn’t make it. A small table holds pins, tape, a threaded needle and a basket of folding flats, for emergencies nobody will admit to. The light is warm and kind, from linen-shaded lamps, and there is no flame anywhere, because the whole room is made of fabric. You’ll notice the mirror most when it’s gone. Formality is 4 of 5. The wrong version is a gala costume party, with a red carpet, dress forms and a best-dressed prize.
The table
| On the card | The line |
|---|---|
| Atelier | Brut Champagne over one frozen raspberry that turns the glass pink as it thaws. Color arriving late, like everyone else. (VG · GF · DF) |
| White Room | Cold white tea, lemon oil and soda in the same coupe, with the raspberry on the rim instead of in it. (0% · VG · GF · DF) |
| One Architectural Bite | A crab tart the size of a coin, alone on a plate much too big for it, and absolutely the point. (contains shellfish · GF cup on request) |
| One Architectural Bite, cucumber | The same gold shell, filled with a pale green mosaic of cucumber. Same architecture, no shellfish. (V) |
| Smashed, After the Champagne | A smashed cheeseburger with a lacy edge, in a parchment sleeve so you can hold it over silk. (GF and DF on request) |
| Smashed, After the Champagne, plant-based | The same lacy smash from its own pan, on the same black plate. (V · VG on request) |
| Lipstick Berry | Raspberries under a cream turned pink with more raspberry: the one lipstick in the room that didn’t come out of a tube. (V · GF · VG on request) |
Each made item has its own recipe coming to Salt Notes; a cold, peppery Austrian white is poured at the table after the curtain. Both are linked here when the recipes are live.
Who it is for
For a fashion fundraiser’s own afterparty, a milestone birthday where the outfit was the point, a studio’s gala supper, the night after a wedding with fittings in it. Skip it for an evening with no dressing in it, for a party with children, or for anyone who wants a costume party.
Not on this page
The clock, the cutover in steps, the cue sheet, the room map, the recipe methods, the shopping list, the budgets, and how the rail gets every bag home with the right person. The World Folio holds all of it.
Look book
How to show up for The Fitting Room Is Closed is coming to Vanity or Vice: the third outfit, the flat you switch into, and one red mouth that survives a cheeseburger.
Nobody comes as somebody, and the fitting room closes once.

Atmosphere OS · Theme Atelier
A palette is not yet a decision.
Atmosphere OS holds the color, the material, the light and the room in one object, so moving any of them shows you what it does to the rest. Costs come back as indicative bands and never as quotes, which is the difference between planning and pretending.
The rulebook is public. Every formula it runs on is written down where you can disagree with it.

Field notes and corrections
When a number here turns out to be wrong, you hear about it.
Three things arrive and nothing else. The new field note — bar rates, cover widths, service clearances, the arithmetic worked through on one real evening. A line when a new World or Mini Occasion opens, because a night only goes up once it can actually be thrown. And a correction whenever a rule in the published rulebook changes, or a number the tools rely on turns out to have been wrong. There is no weekly slot, because there is nothing weekly to put in it.
One email per field note or opening, plus corrections when a published figure moves. Unsubscribe from any of them.
